The University of Coimbra (UC) is the only Portuguese Higher Education Institution to be included in the top 200 for "Environmental Sciences”, according to the "QS World University Rankings" by Subject, just released.
According to the prestigious ranking, the University, with the Environmental Sciences Dept. making its debut, is again amongst the top universities in the world in the areas of Law and Civil Engineering (http://www.topuniversities.com / node/2285/ranking-details/university-subject-rankings/2014).
Launched in 2011, the QS World University Rankings by Subject ranks universities in relation to 30 areas of knowledge. Institutions are evaluated by their peers through a questionnaire overseen by academic experts and employers. They are also further evaluated according to the performance level of publications and citations.
