Lisbon Univ. Architect. Faculty

The Faculty of Architecture (FA), less formally considered by its members as “the school” -stemming from its sixteenth century origins, has become one of 18 colleges and institutes that make up the University of Lisbon (ULisboa): The result of a recent merger between the University of Lisbon and the Technical University of Lisbon.
The FA is one of four colleges located in the Campus da Ajuda, situated on a hill near Parque de Monsanto, about 20 minutes west of the city centre.
Courses on offer include Bachelors, Masters and PhDs in the areas of Architecture, Urban Planning and Design as well as additional training for professionals who wish to acquire further knowledge. FA provide a wide range of teaching services for professionals; such as consultants, researchers and public officials, in the related areas of the built environment, culture and industry.
This wide range of training makes the FA 's largest and most diverse school in the country in these subject areas, with about 3000 students. It is also the school with the largest number of foreign students predominantly from Europe, but also other countries with which the FA has exchange agreements.
Its main characteristic is its emphasis on training through project making for 1st Degree (Batchelor’s) and 2nd Degree (Masters) courses where relevant knowledge is developed and applied in projects that go from small scale (hand size) objects to actual buildings. The successful outcome of this approach is that over 95% of its graduates get placement one year after graduating.
